Too bad my Grandfather just sold his 2000 GMC Sierra 2wd with 96,000miles for $7500.

To be honest with you, with any GM product, it really does not matter how many miles are on it. You should be more worried about how the previous owner took care of the machine and if they have all maintenance records. You can probably find a decent Silverado or Sierra between 97 and 02 inside of that price range. I would say definitely go with a V-8. 6 cylinder trucks have never stood up to the 8s and they get about the same gas mileage. I think that just about covers it... You will find that this forum is extremely biased towards GM products (as am I). For some reason the Dodge and Ford guys just aren't as technologically advanced
