Well i got a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 , I want to remove my spare tire because it wont help me even if i get a flat. I got all the tools to remove it but it wont lower . if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.

 

the same thing happened to my dads truck. dirt and debris get onto the mechanism that locks the tire under the truck. u will need to spray it with penetrating oil let it sit a bit then if it still wont lower which my dads didnt we hit it with a small sledge and it eventuall broke loose. once its down give it a good coat of motor oil or something to keep it free for future use.

 

In addition to the above advice, everyone needs to remind themselves and their friends not to neglect maintenance on their spare. I have found more than one completely flat spare when checking peoples cars and trucks. (I am not a mechanic, just a guy people call when they need some help)
