i have a 03 z71 ext. cab and can afford a real lift kit. i would like to level the front end with the rear about 2 inches. are replacing the torsion keys recomended and how will affect the ride of the truck? how big of a tire can i put under there with stock wheels?

 

I don't know much about it but i don't think you have to replace the keys i think you can just tighten them and it will raise the front of the truck. Yeah you should be able to get about 2 inches but there again not positive. As for the ride quality its gonna make it a pretty rough ride. And as for tire size you should be able to run about a 33" tire. Again i'm not positive on this stuff so don't necessarily take my word for it but i hope it at least helps, or at least gets someone who knows to reply.

I do not recomend getting after market torsion keys. They put a hell of a strain on the torsion bars and they put your cv axles at an severe angle. You will replacing boots every couple of months. I would turn the keys up and put on a body lift if you just want to clear bigger tires. As for the rough ride its not that bad at all.

When I bought my truck it had 33x13.5x16s on her with the torsions slightely cranked and a body lift. . . . . when i lifted her up 6 more inches i decided to buy some new torsion keys for my truck to squeeze out some more height.

The result was me removing a torsion bar and key to find out that new keys have already been mounted. So i have never installed keys that raise it 1-3 inches for a 1500 4x4 chevy 2000 and up i believe. If anybody wants to get em from me be my guest to hit me up as two of my friends have only talked the talk on buying them from me.

My ride is nice and smooth and i run fully cranked
