Default Question please respond

Since I'm new and this is the section to post almost anything, is there anybody with an opinion about the average pay mechanics/techs in the automotive industry recieve, and if shops should supply scanners for their techs? [sm=feedback.gif]
P.S. anyone done an engine on a 2000 bmw 530i, what is the deal with seperating engine from tranny, holy s%#@, it's going to be fun putting that back together, it's like bmw welded the torque converter to the flywheel.[sm=smiley35.gif]

i dont know about the auto tranny, but my dad, who is also a mechanic just replaced the clutch and gearbox in his bimmer, and the gearbox is not internally repairable....they seal them once assembled...he tried and tried to get it open, and nothing shy of cutting it open would work...so he bought a new one.

i worked as a morno tech, and i got 12,5 percent of all of the work i brought in with the exception of tires and tire service, which i only got 4 percent. there were busy weeks where i would make 800 bucks...but there were DEAD weeks in the summer where i was only making minimum wage...[:'(]
