Default Tips for Handling Tax Returns as a Truck Owner/Driver?

Hey everyone,

This is probably a bit off the usual truck talk, but I figured this community might have some insight. I run my own pickup for both personal and side hauling work, and I’m getting ready to file my tax return for the first time with truck‑related expenses.

I’m unsure what I can deduct (fuel, repairs, tools, mileage) and how to separate personal vs business use. Do any of you experienced owners/drivers have tips on tracking expenses, what’s deductible, or how to avoid mistakes on Schedule C?

Appreciate any help!
