All depends on what you want. I am a chevy silverado guy and it does great in mud, ice, and dirt have not had it insand but im sure it would do just fine.

If your looking for something primarily for 4X4ing look no further than ye ol' Toyota pickup. I don't ever here of the local rednecks getting stuck in them and the motors last forever.

thats any yota pre 97 that last forever. theres a video where they dump an 89 yota into the ocean. let the ocean submerge it and pull it out after a day or two and it started right up and ran.

Over the few driving years I have beaten the holy **** out of every Toyota I could get my hands on... and they survived. I have no idea what those Jap bastards do to design an engine, but whatever it is it works.

If you want to mud the hell out of something, you can't go wrong with an early 90's 'Yota pickup.

This year’s Top Picks in 10 categories include four new models. For the first time since 2005, a U.S. model, the redesigned Chevrolet Silverado, made the list as our choice in pickup trucks. And for the first time ever, a South Korean automaker is represented: The Hyundai Elantra SE and Santa Fe are our top small sedan and midsized SUV, respectively. The fourth new entry is the Lexus LS 460L, the highest-scoring vehicle we’ve tested and best among luxury sedans.
