1988 gmc sierra

I have a 1988 gmc sierra and im having trouble finding a transmission dipstick for it i can only find later year dipsticks will part#15687192 work as a replacement? its for later years but i believe its for a 4L60E transmission...please HELP!!!!

Did the part number work? I'm having the same issue with my dipstick.
