I just bought a 2006 Tundra double cab about six weeks ago. Last week, my husband went to use the spare remote (never used) and found it did not work. When he opened it to replace the battery, it was rusted and corroded. I took it back to the Cobb County Toyota in Georgia yesterday, and they told me that I must have done that. The assistant service manager said perhaps I jumped into a pool with my keys? When I told him no, never used it, please let me speak to the boss, he told me I may have to wait an hour or two. I searched for him, John Ridings, found him, and he told me that even if I did not rust the remote that the remote was not part of the bumper to bumper warranty because it was not part of the car. I told him that was the most ridiculous thing that I ever heard. He said there was no way that the remote could have come from the factory that way, and I am just trying to see if anyone else has had any problems with their new remotes[:@].
