Default Need help, I want to add some HP

Whats up guys, this is my first post and all i want to say is glad to be on here.
so lets get into it, I have a 2001 Silverado 4.8l reg cab.
What i want is to add alot of Hp without doing a motor swap.
I was thinking supercharger, and alot of upgrades such as intake, headers, intake manifold, camshaft, and everything else.
I heard that the camshaft and intake mani from a ls2 will fit on my motor without any modifications.
Im kinda new when it comes to motors but i do alot of suspension work and body work. so help me out guys what should i get.

Start with the basics. CAI, Tune, Exhaust, Cam, tehn upgrade to a supercharger or turbo. Just my 2 cents.

It depends on how much you want to spend. You can go with the basics as stated above.
Afterwards you can add
Better heads,
Better Intake Manifold
Headers
Upgraded Ignition System,
underdrive pully kit,
better valves,
better crankshaft
if you have a manual fan, remove it and replace with a electric fan on the radiator,
you can have the engine ported.

And to answer your original question I have always liked superchargers over turbo, this is due to the lag that comes with turbos. There is a slight lag on a turbo at the begining until it gets going. There is no lag with a supercharger.

Your right you will get lag from a turbo if you just go out and buy the first turbo you see on the shelf... If you do your homework and do things right the lag will be very minimal and will rob less HP (than a SC) from your engine to turn it..

Supercharger: good gains - HP lost to turn pully - added stress = good option for most people who want to plug and play...

Turbo: impressive gains - minimum hp lost to spool turbo - less stress than supercharger - major tuning required = best option for people who are able to put the time for the homework and is able to install himself..
