Default More performance??

Thought this was for problems with forum, not trucks but the posts are going towards truck problems- so
On a 99 Silverado 1500 4wd, 5.3, which would offer more performance, a Granatelli Mass Airflow sensor or a Hypertech Performance program. I put both on the truck about a year ago, runs well but found they are not compatable together. So, I need to pick one of the two

Not sure what one make more power, however I would keep the programmer. The programmer gives you more options for adjustments for future mods like(speedo adj for other tires, gear swap, and shift points). I have one for mu 99 T/A and love it.

Default RE: More performance??

A test done by Chevy Performance magazine on a 5.3 showed a Granatelli MAF is worth about 10HP and 20 ft.lb of torque, but it works best when combined with a cold airbox, and low-ohm plug wires. Those combined changes netted 55 HP increase, and 45 lb.ft of torque, both across a wide rpm range.

few, if any, modifications will make much difference by themselves.

as for programmers, i can only speak about the hypertech. let's be honest with ourselves, okay? it does not change timing, fuel/air ratios, exhaust temps, or anything internal. You just plug it in and play with tire size, shift points, and other things which will change the characteristics of your truck, but do not affect HP or torque. If I am wrong on this, would someone please not only tell me I am wrong, but prove it to me?
thanks!

buckmeister2 is right, this is why a custom programer is so much better than a handheld. They cannot remove the Torque Management like a custom tune, TM retards the timing at WOT and is supposed to help prolong the life of your drivetrain but is really for saving GM money on warranty work. A custom tune can also change the maps which allows for differnt octane tuning and overall better performance than a handheld and is compatable with the Granatelli MAF and all other mods to include internal and superchargers

Another thing to watch out for is playing with the shift points, if you are not carefull you can tear up your tranny. This is already a week point and can fail if you go too far. We have dyno tested and proven our tunes with many miles of driving so we know we will not cause problems.
