new s-10...new ignition
Hey,
I just bought my first truck, an '87 chevy s-10. Its kind of a beater but it runs pretty good for a 4 banger. I plan on restoring it little by little starting this weekend and I have run into my first problem. Somebody broke into the truck when the previous owner had it and attempted(very poorly) to hotwire it. So since the steering column is completely cracked and its kind of jerry rigged to start. (I have to push up this plastic lever on the steering column to get it to fire up.) I decided to start by replacing the whole ignition system.
My question is
What system do you recommend?
What parts do I need i.e. coils-wires-system etc......this is my first vehicle so bare with me
thanks for the help
Gaston

I would
A. Go back with Stock
B. MSD 6A box/coil/Distributor(super simple systems)
The MSD has a hotter spark so Better MPG is expected As is better performance.
And they are Small/CLEAN looking systems.
As for the switch on the steering column Mine is the same thin push it for the key to turn....I think its like a safety lock or something *Shrug*
