Default '06 GMC Crew Cab MYLAR TRIM FADING & SPOTTING

[:@] We purchased NEW '06 GMC SLT, short, short box 4x4 back on Aug. 1st, of 2006.
MSRP of $40,ooo, and The truck currently has 2,400 miles on it.

Here's MY gripe... The "Chrome Trim" on the doors is PLASTIC, with a chrome mylar finish,
( something like model car kit chrome ), instead of being a 'true polished stainless' or a 'true chrome plated steel' as it originally appears to be.
Anyway, this plastic chrome trim, NOW has very small brown / rust spots in ALL 4 pieces of it and one of these trim pieces has actually started to turn white, and is fading or delaminating???

I've shown my purchased from dealer and they said "GM will not warrantee this", "because it was caused by salt spray on our roads". WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY SNOW ON THE GROUND here that I've driven through, so how could it be salt? (& btw - the CHROME PLATED STEEL FRONT BUMPER HAS NONE OF THESE IMPERFECTIONS - so whos sh@$%^* who here?)

I've washed this truck, by hand a total of 3 times since purchase because we just don't drive it all that much.

HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS RUST SPOTTING & FADING happen on their vehicles??
PLEASE go check and let GMC customer service know as soon as possible (800-462-8782).

If POLISHED STAINLESS Steel was originally used for this trim, instead of this Plastic MYLAR BS, there would be no problems!

LET ME KNOW HERE PLEASE!!!! Thank You! Larry

I would suggest that you request your dealer arrange for his Area Service Manager to inspect your vehicle and/or call GM Customer Assistance at the phone number mentioned in your Owners Manual. You can also consider going to another dealer if you feel yours is giving you the run around. If nothing unusual has gotten on your vehicle I think it deserves a second opinion.

[:@] Thanks SLJ...
BUT, I have already contacted the GMC Customer Assitance number in the back of the owners manual ( see my note above?? ).

and YES... They have requested that the A.S.R. contact me after New Years.

HOWEVER... WHAT I'M ASKING FROM THIS FORUMs MEMBERSHIP,
Has ANYBODY else seen this same deterioration in their vehicles trim???

LET ME KNOW PLEASE! Larry
