Default '06 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab

(New guy here) Wife bought new an '06 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab SLE. From the start the thing bounced like a cork in a hurricane - when slowly driving over mild speed bumps, for instance.
At my insistence we took it back to the dealer - their mechanic and maintenance foreman said "nothing wrong" with the suspension. I was livid and went to the owner. He directed his maintenance dept to change suspension (springs?) all around. The ride seems slightly better but still "spongy".

Now there is heavy, uneven tire wear - even tho my wife has had realignment done a couple/three of times and she has the tires rotated quite often.

Last time, at NTB (where she buys tires and has the realignments and rotations done), the fellow told her that the suspension was the cause of the goofy tire wear.

I'm no auto mechanical whiz so I'm seeking information and suggestions as to which way to go to get her vehicle into something 1) safe..2) comfortable..3) good for tire wear.....performance/stiff ride is not a requirement.

I'm thinking along the lines of an aftermarket shock/strut replacement (I told ya, I'm no mechanical whiz..)

Thank you for any info/suggestion..Bill

Ok first I would go to a really well known shop and have them inspect. Like Firestone or Discount Tire, etc. Get an all wheel alignment before you get new tires. Then have them rotated according to the shops recommendations. As far as shocks, Edelbrock, Billstein, Rancho, are just some of the brands to name off that are very durable and give great performance. There are other things that have an effect on the ride like leaf spring bushings, upper and lower a-arm bushings, coil springs, leaf springs. Hopefully a shop around where you live will have someone with enough savvy to let you know what needs to be replaced on your truck.

Thanks for the reply

Yes, I suspect that taking it to a knowledgable "suspension" shop is the way to go - now to find one..Bill
