1988 GMC Oil problem?
Hello there, I was driving on the highway doing the speed limit when all of a sudden I head a sound from the engine then a loss of oil pressure and then a sudden loss of power to a stalling roll. I quickly took a look under the hood and checked to see if i threw a piston but nothing thank god. I checked the oil level and there was oil all over the dip stick not just down in the pan, i thought there must be an oil problem. I checked under the truck and Ive got oil on my starter that has dripped to the ground. Could I have blown my oil pump? Normally when i turn the key all the oil gauge is static it hardly moves from 300, Now its at 0 and while im turning my key it shoots to 300 and drops to 200 then 100 then to nothing. Does any one know whats going on? Thanx a million SIMON
Thanks for the quick reply, No unfortunately I'm unable to start the truck. Which is a good thing imo if there is no oil flowing I don't want to do any damage. Im going to pull the oil pan and see if i can see any physical damage. I was told it could be the oil sending unit?
