1988 Silverado 4x4 tranny issue
Hi, I have an older 2500 silverado pick up that I plow my driveway with . The four wheel drive works flawlessly until today. I was pushing snow up high on a snow bank and when I put her in reverse I noticed that the four wheel drive stopped working. I was wondering if I may have blown a fuse of relay switch. No fluid leak or grinding, just stopped working. any advice is much appreciated. Thanks
Fretster here. Just went out and started her up and the four wheel drive light came on on console and was operating fine. About ten minutes later the light went out and four wheel drive stopped working. Sounds like an electrical issue? Help!
I could be wrong (and I often am,) do you just have the 4X4 shifter on the floor? If so then I doubt it is an electrical problem. If it had the push button transfer case then I would agree with you. But that light is just telling you it is turning on and off is all. What is causing it to disengage is a different problem. If it happened when you were pushing way up high with the plow it may be your linkage. I would start with that area anyway..but it is just a suggestion.
Good luck to you.
Good luck to you.
