Evening fellas alright did some searching couldnt find anything, but i am having a problem "on occasion" with my trans, when i start my truck, No Tach, speedometer,odomiter, or shift indicator light, then onto the fun stuff, the only gear i am in is 3rd, when i put the truck into OD, then when i drop the gear to 3rd on the shifter it remains in 3rd, then i can put the truck into 2nd, but only 2nd even when i put the shifter into 1st, this is confusing me, and hopefully this made some sort of sense to a gear head because i am drawing a blank, and my chevy is a 4.3

Check the cable that is connected from the shifter to the transmission. My fathers tahoe would occasionally stay in neutral when he turned it off and the shifter felt like it was in the Park position. It is on the drivers side and connected to the transmission shift lever. His is a 98 I am not sure if you have the cable or a lever that shifts the tranny though.
