<FONT size=2>Does anybody know anything about the 2001Silverado 1500 extended cab pick ups? We found a really clean, very nice 2001 with only 30,000 miles on it and are about ready to buy it, but our local mechanic said they have had lots of electrical problems. He mentioned that he has had quite a few customers who have had problems with lights, headlights, turn signals, etc. Lots of things that are electrical. Do you have any info or input on that?

Also, if there are any other problems you know about the 2001, please let us know. </FONT>

 

Just buy it, I have never heard such a thing about an electical problem with those trucks even after all my ventures around the net.

i agree i have never in my life heard of such problems. only on the fords do that have that problem and thats only with the cruise control. Buy it and love it there awesome trucks

 

in my 01 silverado a couple of my climate control lights and the dome light indicator have gone out but other than that it's never let me down and is at 83k. get the truck and enjoy.

 

some of the most common complainta are /
abs activating at slow speeds /abs control module burning out /parking brake doesent hold on many trucks /brake rotors seem to warp/ battery positive terminal fails/ side view mirror switch is faulty on my truck /fuel gauge sending unit is faulty not working properly on many trucks.
I have had both axles break/ abs front wheel sensors rust and give wrong signals to abs system. fuel pressure regulatorgoes out and is quite common $100 fix my truck is a 99 silverado 5.3 litre long bed standard cab. I have 115 thousand miles on clock.

the only electrical problem i had with my truck was that the windshield wiper motor fried and the climate control light burned out the ****, but i also had a sound system installed so i don't know if that could have something to do with it, just letting you know
