NOT sure on that dull squeak...of course, the steering shafts clunk like hell...can you isolate the squeak at all?

Dang.... I'm caught between whether or not to take off my Bug Deflector. I think it makes mine look pretty good but then again my truck and bug deflector are both black so it blends in much better. I sure hate that racket though!

ArgonI believe it is coming from the steering shaft. It does it more if you are setting still or moving slow. At moderate speeds you do not hear it at all or when turningor going over a bump. Are we talking about replacing the shaft or is there a fix?

72Charger: I have a freind that has a 2000 extended cab with a "Lund" bug shield and no noise at all. My truck had the "AVS" shield. It has a lip turned straight up across the top of the shield about 1/2" high. Best that we can tell the lip is causing the turbulence.

the steering shafts can make 2 noises....ye old "clunk" we are so familiar with.....and a squeak...the squeak is the shaft rotating against a dry rubber boot on the firewall...simply get under trhe hood and lube up the outside of the shaft..try to spray some grease up into that boot....
