I pressure washed my engine and within a week my engine light came on, code P 0332 Bank 2 Knock Sensor, low input. I replaced both knock sensors and the short harness that attaches to the sensors and clips to the top of the engine. The Bank 2 was corroded due to the water intrusion. Read the technical bulletin and added the RTV damn and pulled the rear foam pad. Have had the code cleared several times but it continues to illuminate after 28 miles. The engine runs great, gas mileage has not changed and idles smoothly. Would appreciate some helpful trouble shooting tips/suggestions. The truck has 103K miles.

 

Engine light illuminated again. Thought I would do some troubleshooting this weekend before giving up on repairing the truck myself. Hooked up the code reader and was expecting the bank #2 senor low input again. However, I had a bank #1 sensor low input. The last time I had the truck apart I installed the one good original sensor (OEM) in bank #2 and the BWD sensor in bank #1.

I had talked to a Chevrolet service manager a week ago and he had stated sometimes the computer will not take another suppliers part only a OEM part. I thought to myself he was only pushing to sell me a part, like a car salesman. Besides, to buy the after market part was only five miles away versus the 22 miles to the car dealership.

I had ohmed out the good OEM knock sensor and the BWD knock sensor but they both have the same reading. You assume as this point the parts are the same. However, you probably need an ocisillscope to get a comparison of the signal being sent to the computer with and without the engine running, which I don't have.

The knock sensor problem has been resolved, hope this post helps someone avoid the frustration I experienced. Replace the knock sensor with OEM sensors!

Another thing to keep in mind is to torque them to spec. Over-tightening can also screw them up.
