Looking for diagram of rear hub. I was replacing rear bearing seal, pulled hub and could not remove the snap ring. Gave the hub to a friend of mine who got the snap ring out and pressed in the bearing/race for me. Now truck has eaten 2 bearings. The bearing rubs on the snap ring and eats bearing and snap ring. Does the snap ring rest against the race or against the bearing? He pressed in the race, dropped the bearing onto the race and then put in the snap ring. is that correct, or do you drop in the bearing, press in the race and then put in the snap ring?

 

Do you have both an inner and outer set of bearings? If so the the snap ring goes between the two bearing cups or races. If this is the case the bearings never touch the snap ring. In my factory manuals I could only find a snap ring on the 11.5 inch rear axle. That is the only one they explain how to replace the bearings.
