I'm new to the truck world last truck I had was a 1989 nissan hardbody so much has changed I'm excited about all the new things you can change on the trucks now a days.I have a 2008 silverado 2wd ext cab I keep swaying between just going with a level kit and being done with it or going with a 4-6 lift.I see CST,Pro Comp,BDS,Fabtech,Rancho make a kit I'm not planning on doing much offroading but I might I like the way they look lifted.Give me your opinions on the lifts the quality of the parts any PICS would be great to see thanks guys.Doug

 

Ive heard that Pro Comp is best for the price. But if you want to spend more to get a better one, i think the Fabtech would be better.
What size tires you gonna run?
Some 35's under there with a 6" lift would look awesome.
Or if you decided to go a little less extreme, a 2" or 3" lift would probably allow for 33's.

 

I guess i just don't understand the concept. I'm from the old school i guess. A 2WD truck with a lift kit and big tires, is a pretty expensive way to "just" make your truck LQQK cool. Pardon the pun but....... its kinda like **** on a nun, USELESS. Theres better ways to spend your $$$$$ on your truck, and make it LQQK COOL at the same time. Nice Rims, brush bars/bull bar, hood scoop, visor, headlight covers, taillight covers, etc............ Just my .02 worth, Jim

 

you can get 2" coil spacers in the front and 1" blocks in the back... a body lift would make that a 5 inch lift... runnin 33s under that probably

fabtech has a 7" lift that you could get 35s under... theres not a lot of options

 

or rough country (and im sure others do too) makes a 3" spindle lift you could add 2" blocks to

 

I have the 7" fabtech with 35s and its trash. Look at RCD or CST. They are the best for two wheel drive. I went the cheaper route and I have spent as much on steering knuckles, front barings to pay for another lift. The RCD comes with bilstein shocks, but most importantly they drop your front end coponents down which puts way less stress on the front end and will save you the hassel I went through. Also if you go with 35s on the seven inch lift you will have to trim the edges of your bumper and air dam. Also with those bigger tires I would extremely reccomend a gear change. You wil hate running the bigger tires with stock gears. And when you do all this you have to get a programmer to recalibrate the speedometer for tire and gear size changes. I'd go with a superchips or predator. Both are the same but predator is cheaper. Its expensive overall but if you really want to do all this you will save money in the long run by spending a little more. Otherwise it will bite you in the wallet a few miles later. Take it from me, I learned the hard way. Also I would stay away from body lifts. All they do is space the body off the frame. You get no more suspension travel, and it looks ghetto. Also I had a friend who had a 4.8 silverado with a body lift and his truck always overheated because a body lift moves the bumper infront of your radiator blocking the cool air coming in. I don't know much about lifts for 2wd, but be sure to change gears with bigger tires. 33" need 4.10, 35" need 4.56. Also stay away from body lifts as they really look like crap.
