4.8 L Mileage Update
Okay, getting a little more used to the Jimmy. For those who don't know, I am the new owner of a '12 Sierra SL crew cab 4x4 with the 4-speed 4.8L combo.
My daily driving mileage has steadily improved. I started at less than 15 MPG. Since them I have gotten 15.6 and 16.9 MPG. I hoped to get highway only numbers on a trip to Grayson County this weekend, but half of the drive was a very twisty road over a couple mountains. The other half was interstate, 17.1 MPG. That's not bad at all. If I can get around 16 on my typical daily drive, I can live with it. My Grand Marquis was getting 20 mpg on the commute. I'm guesstimating I can top 18, maybe 19 on the interstate. For a little motor without AFM, that's pretty good.
I'm very impressed with my engine. For such a small motor, it will flat-out haul when called on. GM makes an excellent 4-speed and it shows on the entrance ramp! With gas numbers I can live with, I'm loving this truck!
