Default 4WD issue

i got my truck i got the guy to drop the price from 5000 to 3500 because the service 4WD indicator is on.

someone told me its the button that is messed up which i have a replacement from my old truck but they told me i have to go to a dealer to flash it so it will work with my truck? ideas?

you dont need to have them flash anything
alls you need to do is disconnect your negitive battery terminal
or your ignition fuse thats on the firewall on the pass side thats what my chiltons says to do when removing a code
also it could be your actuator goin bad i think yours is the thermal kind

its the 1999 silverado with the push button


and thermal??

anyways if its anything big i have all the parts im going to need

i cat be exact but i think it is when the diff gets hot it kicks on or off i cant remember
electric is where you push the button or push the lever and it comes on
i cant remember exactly what the theramal kind and how its different ill search around some more
if you want me too
