5.3 votec rebuild ?
Well I have a little bit older truck and the miles are staring to get pretty high it still runs strong but for how much longer who knows. I was just wondering how much a rebuild is going to run me ball park so i don't get ripped off, and if there are any moderate aftermarket things I should do. I wouldn't mind a little more performance but I don't need a race truck. Some people have told me to sell it but I love this truck and is in great condition in and out. thanks for reading

How many miles do you have? One of my good friends is a mechanic at a Chevy dealer and he has nothing but good things to say about the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 motors. He see's them all the time with 250K plus. I say let it run till it stops. My personal work truck has 175K and it runs like a top. It does have a slight rear main leak, but just a slight one. We also have a 2000 Suburban with a 5.3 and 180K that we use to pull our 22' pontoon boat. I would drive either one anywhere!

I have been quoted 2800 for a rebuild. Look on ebay. They have numerous motors with very low miles that run for bout 800 bucks. Either replace it with the same or get an LS1 stock motor.
