I was wondering if anyone has any insight about putting transmission out of the 09 chevy pickups with the six speed in place of the four speed in an 05 1500 with a 5.3. any info would be great.

I replaced the tranny in my '01 about a year ago. I've know the guy who did it for over 20 years, and he owns a local shop where I grew up. I asked him if we could put a 5 or 6 speed in instead, and he said no. There's too much computer stuff going on to just replace the tranny. You could do it if you had enough money, but it would probably be cheaper to buy the newer truck.
