Default 82 GMC K1500 Electrical Issue

Hello All.

I am new to Truck Forums and this will be my first post here.

I need some help with an electrical issue in my GMC. It's a 1982 that I recently bought from a guy in California. It's in good condition and runs great but the guy couldn't really wire anything to save his life.

I was removing the broken security system from the truck today and accidentally knocked two wires out of the fuse block. One of them is for the accessory fuel tank, and the other is for the aftermarket gage cluster.

Here's the wires...hopefully the image works.

Both have inline fuses rated for 15 amps.

The problem is I have no idea where they go... I sort of broke procedure today pulling things out without taking pics first in case there was an issue just like this...

Here's the fuse block.

That brown connector is odd. I'm not entirely sure but i am pretty sure one of the wires, possibly for the gage cluster was in there.

I am just trying to be really careful here. I'm a mechanical Engineer, not so much electrical. And to be honest whoever wired this truck up did quite a wonderful job making a rats nest.

Any ideas as to where those wires go?

Also, if anybody knows where I can get a wiring diagram for my truck that would be awesome...

Thanks in advance...
Sincerely
Ryan

Since they both have in-line fuses, you just need to get them on a 12v source. It appears they have some kind of spade lug that probably will fit in one of the 12v buss positions. If you had a wiring diagram, it wouldn't show the aftermarket stuff anyway. As long as it's fused, you could tie them to the battery and be ok. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply/help. I went out with my test light and found some power and hooked them in. I think I have it figured out. Everything seems to be working right now.

I'm still looking for a wiring diagram for other reasons if there is one out there. I don't have one for the truck and it would be nice to have.

Thanks
Ryan

Nice truck. My first full size truck was a '81 Silverado. I learned a lot about trucks trying to keep that one on the road. Bought it new but it had a lot of problems. Good luck with this one. Maybe the bugs are worked out by now.
