Default 89 1500 rebuild.....

alright here goes... im 17 and this is my first truck.
I got it for $500 so obviously im on a budget i want a good truck thats kindof affordable and need some help.
its got a 350 with a mild cam and a 700r4 automatic transmission. the transmission sticks in first gear and has some problems going into second, what should i do get a new one or rebuild my current one? any other ideas would greatly be appreciated.

talk to a tranny shop. see how much theyd charge for a rebuild and at the same time look into the junk yards and look for any usuable 700R4s now remember you can use any 700R4 even out of those crappy astros. then play the price game of which ever one is more in your budget.

so you have new stock Gm 16in? then go with a set of 245/75/16s seeing as those were the factory tires put on those 16in rims. in fact i have that set up on mine and they look really good.

as far as the motor build. how many miles are on the motor. and what year is the motor? depending on the year you will have some different mods you can use.

the motor is the original 89 350. now the question is why does it say EFI on the tailgate and some other places but its still got a carb also?

Throttle body injection (tbi) is elcetronic fuel injection (efi). Tbi looks like a carb with 2 injectors on top of it.

right now im not sure i just work a part time job and work until i can get the money to replace what needs it. also the oil pressure gauge is faulty and the truck will start to die and ill have to pump the gas to keep it going is that due to the electrics or does it need motor work? or do you have no clue?

does it only wanna die at a stop? at cold idle? anytime not giving it gas? any other symptoms? any other funny gauge readings?

and change it to what kind of intake?
