i have a 96 silverado ext cab 350 vortec. i'm going to replace the engine and i'm wondering which way to go? i want about 350 hp and i'd like to buy a crate engine so i can put it in and go. i'm not sure about the fuel and computer sytems though. or would i buy a stock vortec 350 and add to it to get the hp i'm looking for? and help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Would be much cheaper to get a low mileage 5.3 with tranny and PCM. Add a few bolt ons and get good gas mileage. Motors alone go for round $400 at salvage yards or craigslist.

 

this is not going to be an every day driver, i'm more interested in the 5.7 vortec and how to get the hp out of it, or i've heard something about the LT1 is built the same but i'm not sure if it will work or not
