Default AC Motor Always Engages 2001 Silverado

When ever I turn my fan on no matter if it is on hot or cold and the AC button is off the AC pump always engages. Any clue why?

Also, my fan speeds 1 and 2 do not work.

I would say the control panel would be the first thing to check. Do you have a friend or family member with a same era truck that you could swap out with to get a little free troubleshooting?

I'm going to try to find someone with an 99-02 so I can try that. I stopped by the dealership and one guy said it might be the resister for the fan problem.

To me that would explain the blower motor speeds, but not the compressor always running. It is possible to have multiple issues, but a control head could cause both issues. Good luck, let us know.

Turn the switch to incoming air instead of recirculated air. In other words use NORM AC instead of MAX AC. NORM will just run the fan. MAX will always engage the clutch.

If the A/C button is off it should not kick the compressor on.

That is what I would think too but when I put it onto direct air the pump shuts off.
