Auto headlight sensor
I have a 2007 new body style, 1500 Vmax Z71
The Headlights come on and go off depending on the amount of light outside, but they don't seem very sensitive and the sun is up for a couple hours and i need sunglasses but the headlight stay on and, now this is my problem!
The LED's in the dash Radio and heater controls stay dim as if it was nighttime and are hard to see in the daylight and much harder with sunglasses on, I can turn the headlights off but the dashlights stay dim until that sensor reads enough light. Can anyone help me to fined out how to unhook thay sensor like i did in my truck several years ago?
I forget what it was i did exactly. or how do i get the dash of my truck apart to get to the sensor??

Headlights don't stay on, but the sun is up for a good 2 hours or better. when the suns good and high they go off and the dashlight go to bright like they should.
jcbst, thanks, i remember now putting in a resistor in my old truck.
now i need to find out how to get to it with this new dashboard. any ideas??

Can you find the sensor or no? On dash, mirror, pillar? Mine was on the dash, I just popped it out from the inside of the dash (pulled out radio and went it in through there), rigged a LED to fit in the little sensor socket, put it through the hole and used this chrome LED socket and washer from Radio Shack to hold it in place. I used a blue LED, it looks sweet as hell with the chrome socket. Bad news is that on cold mornings the lights turn on despite the lighting conditions. I guess the cold weather causes a resistance change on the LED enough for the signal to fail and the lights to turn on. Once its warm they go off.
btw i was googling the auto headlights and it led me back here... that was pretty cool... anyway...
what would happen if you just disconnected the sensor? my gf can't turn her headlights off and it bothers her (why, i dont know... her running lamps are both blown...) anyway... would disconnecting the sensor just make headlights on all the time or never?
