Default Basic Tuning Question

Hey guys, new to forum. I have a '97 Silverado 5.7. I've been toying with the idea of a tuner and wanted to get some opinions.

First of all, my truck is basically totally stock, minus a K&N air filter and exhaust system (headers and cat back). Its an everyday driver with 170k miles.

If I get a tuner for it, I don't want to skemp on quality. The main thing I want is a good, reliable, safe tune that makes usable power. That being said, I want to know if I would be better off with a tuned comp or just a handheld flash tuner. I have seen multiple threads on different forums that talk about Nelson Performance and they all say basically the same thing. That is, that Nelson is pretty much the best out there for tuning these engines. Let me know what yall think.

Well my friend you will hear it from here too. Custom tuning is the best option there is. There are others like Blackbear and Wheatly. But any of those will beat a handheld.
