1988 chevy silverado--my brake warning light in dash blinks 8 times then on the ninth time it says on for a second or two. it repeats this cycle over and over. any ideas?

I'd say your ABS pump is shot if it’s equipped with one. My 99 Silverado did the same thing. Cost me $100.00 to get it replaced, plus $55.00 shop time. I didn’t want to bleed all those lines.

If yours works like mine, it will flash like this until you unplug the power from the module, on the frame rail under drivers seat. The system reverts back to standard brakes, with no ABS protection. Now, I drove mine like that for a couple months. I personally don’t care much for GM ABS system in Pickups. I have come close to having more accidents because of the ABS not applying fluid to the rotors than I can count.

But that’s my opinion, and everyone has one!
