I have a 2003, 1500 Silverado, 4.8L, auto, 2wd. I think i mighta blew the tranny on this one. It will shift through first but after that the engine just winds out and wont upshift. I can only get it up to about 60mph before im completly wound out. Does anybody know what the problem might be or how to fix it?

 

Might have lost the clutch packs...you can get it rebuilt or but a better unit. If you want a better one contact Finish Line Transmissions.

 

Is your check engine light on?

 

nope, no check engine light. the fluid is high on the stick though.

 

you my friend, need to get your tranny rebuilt, same thign happened to me when i was at starbucks one horrible night. ran me about 1400

 

oh yea. pull the tranny dipstick and smell the fluid. it should be pretty pink and somewhat smell good if everything is normal, but chances are its not. could be the clutch or front pump. happened to me TWICE this year... except my converter blew up on me instead. if you know how to pull the tranny, you can save yourself a few hundred $$ when you get it rebuilt.

 

update on the tranny issue. not quite sure what went wrong, not to worried about it. i decided to spend the money and got a jasper put in it. ITS FREAKIN AWESOME!
