Default Booster/Mastercylinder????

Couldn't find exactly what i was looking for on here. So here is my problem. I have a 93 Z71. I had to replace my calipers. Can't get fluid thru the right caliper (yet). While working on that i noticed brake fluid dripping from the booster face where m/c mounts to it. Mastercylinder is approx. 1yr old. The question is. Has the seals gone in the mastercylinder??? And should i replace the booster while i have this apart?? Thanks.

Yeah your master is shot. Personally, I would replace them both as a unit just because you could have brake fluid inside of the booster and then it'll get sucked into the engine. Not really a problem, I just wouldn't want to worry about that brake fluid doing anything to the inside of the booster.

I'd just change the master cylinder. Oh maybe even just the seal.

Default booster m/c

Thanks guys for info. Just went to ORielly's and picked up a booster m/c kit/combo. Not taking any chances. Truck is almost 20yrs old. I've owned for nearly 17yrs. It is a good truck. I'll let ye'all know how this turns out. Thanks again.

Don't forget to bench bleed the master before you get it all hooked up!

Should go ahead and change the brake fluid as well.

Default Brake Job Completed

I've added EBS rotors and EBS 7000 series green pads. Combo kit master cylinder and booster. Bench bled master installed and bled system front and rear. I also replace the torsion bar keys to give my front end a 2.5" lift and added 2" lift blocks under rear leafs. Here is a few pics if anyone is interested. Thanks for all of you guys input.

Love your stepside! I've seen lotsa leaky master cylinders and didn't replace the booster, but it's ok to be safe. Ya might want to look in the cab where the rod goes from the pedal to through the firewall and pull back the carpet and look for signs of fluid leaking. That is the rear seal on the booster and if fluid leaks here it will rust the cab.
