I have never had a relay go bad so I would only be guessing. Have you replaced it (the relay)? I think as cheap as relays are I would have to replace it and see if it burns up. I would think the fuse would pop before the relay if it was a short in the pump. Let us know what you find.

Seems odd to burn a relay . It is only used for a couple seconds on start of vehicle.
I would start looking for a short some where.

If the relay is gettin hot to the point of burnin up, usually means the pump is drawing more juice for either more pressure or it is grounding itself out. But you can almost guarantee the problem will be from the relay to the pump.

well I went and bought a standard 5 post relay....and some ends and rewired the relay so I can use a standard relay instead of a " gm relay"....the relay still gets hot but I have yet to burn it up....I think I may just by pass the relay and stick a fuse in it and run with it....but the snow is falling right now so it will have to wait.....but it works for now.....I think it may be a fuel pump drawing too many amps........so I think its probably on its way out...we will see
