fuel pump relay overheating
hello, just wandering if anyone else might have an idea as to whats wrong with my truck. its a 97 chevy silverado 4x4 350 automatic. its got 194,00 miles and ive had to fuel pump replaced twice in the last 3 years. the latest is about 3 months old. the problem is the fule pump relay keeps over heating and causing the truck to shut off. i have a fuel psi guage on it and i can see it drop to about 40 psi and it wont run. i bought a new relay and stuck it in there and it worked good for about a month then started up again. when its working the psi is 60-63. any clues as whats going on?
thanks in advance, j

RE: fuel pump relay overheating
I'd say check the fuse for the fuel pump circuit and make sure it is the correct amperage. Other than that I would say to check and double check the fuel pump circuit for bad wires. What brand was the first fuel pump you replaced the OEM one with?

RE: fuel pump relay overheating
thanks for the tip. fuse is ok. i did find the wiring to be burned up underneath the fuse/relay center. i repaired that and have not had any trouble yet. im not sure what brand it is in there. i had midas do it for me cuz it broke down about 50 miles away from home. oh well, kep on truckin!
