A/C controller short?

A/C controller short?
I recently had to replace the evaporator on my 1992 Chevy k1500. Once I got everything back together my a/c controller quit working after one day. Nothing would light up except the temp control when the dash lights were one.
I check each fuse and all were good. Even replaced the HVAC fuse just in case.
Went to junkyard and got another controller. Plugged it and still nothing. Left it plugged in and start playing with different wires. The new controller came on for about 2 minutes. Then went off again.
Because it came on for a few minutes, I am thinking it is a short in the wiring harness or a burned out connector. I have tried to find a wiring schematic but have been unsuccessful.
The fuse is still good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
