cam install
i have a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 with a 4.8 engine. I want to put in a performance cam in it to give it the deep rumble tone and a power. Has anyone done this to there's on here? how hard is it and how long would it take to install and can it be done with motor still installed in the truck. Also whats the best cam out there for sound and performance ? part numbers would be great

Easy to do it yourself. Took me bout 4 hours on my 2001. Choosing a cam depends on where you want the power band, are you gonna still tow any, mostly street or strip, etc. Calling a cam company and talking to a tech is the best thing to do. Read up on other forums also to research results from different set ups.

Its still my daily driver right now so im just going for the sound and the random street race i encounter. I will still be towing , and off roading alot with it so is it even worth it ? Will i need a new stall? diffrent rear end gears? it lifted 6" on 35's so i really dont know what all ill need

You wont need a stall or gears unless you get a really big cam. The TSP224 has been the all around choice for what you may be lookin for. Adding a stall would help though. Something like a 2800, or even the stock torque converter from a Trailblazer SS, its a 2600 stall. But with this cam you dont have to get a higher stall.
