Dumb question: How can you tell what gears are in the wrecked truck?

 

You can get the vin and have it checked, some axles have it stamped on the cover, or you can turn the axle manually and coun thte turns then do the math.

I just sold my 05 Hemi ram qd cab 4x4, When i first got it the thing was a rocket for a truck that size, Would blister the tires on it, Sold it 2 weeks ago with 26000 mls on it and wouldntevenbark them when ipulled out, couldnt belive how much power that eng, had lost,which i did drive the truck hard and pulled a few traylers, but nothing i hadnt done with my old chevy trucks,So i sold it to buy a 2000Z71 and well im home again,id bet my life that motor wouldnt make 100,000 miles,

 

Look in the glove box. there is a # that looks like a VIN. The last 3 digits are your rear end ratio.

I've seen other reports somewhere and timeslips from other owners that say it's even faster than that.

 

That's not bad! I'm jealous of those numbers but my truck looks way better than that thing. It is also probably 1,500lbs. lighter so with a tune I'm sure I'll be right beside you.

No big deal, I will just make my truck faster. And it will last longer. Also those speed numbers are probably on a regular cab, 2wd.

ill admit theyve finally found out how to squeeze out some horsepower but its still an ugly piece of crap that i wont be buying.
