Tenant has a '97 GMC, off road. One small cat. converter in each of the manifold pipes to a common but dual muffler. One of the converters has come apart. Truck idles rough, runs oddly, uses a ton of gas. Advice from computer tech is to just remove both, replace with short section of conventional pipe.

Wont this up set something in the computerized fuel injection system?? This is an early Vortec. Maybe second year of it.
