clunk in steering
i have an 04 silverado 2500hd. just started feeling a clunk in my steering wheel when i turn left. check ball joints, tierods, and front drive lines for extra play all look good and are in tollerance any suggestions

Probably the infamous steering (intermediate) shaft clunk. Have you serviced it lately. There is a replacement shaft or you can just grease that one every so often. It takes about an hour the first time 30-45 minutes after that. It should do it turning both directions though.

Won't the dealer only replace it for free if your truck is under warrenty?

The intermediate shaft is not a recall because it is not a safety issue. I have replaced many of these for the same concern. Unless you have an extended warranty on your truck they will not replace it. The part is a little more than 100.00 dollars.
