Default Coil vs. Leaf Springs

I am considering purchasing a 2007 Avalanche, but I have a question regardng the rear coil springs in relation to towing. I have a 6,500 pound boat that I will be trailering four times a year for a fairly short distance. I am concerned that the coil springs may not hold up over the long run (years) compared to leaf springs. Any comments regaring this or other thoughts with coil vs. leaf?
I realize this is the Silverado forum, but due to no response in the Avalanche forum.... thought someone here may have a comment.
Thanks

If you are towing within the vehicles capabilities the springs would be a non issue.
