Well unless you are pulling or towing or live where there are alot of dirt roads, the 2wd would be good. If you want to add performance and power, both will suffice.

Default Silverado vs. Colorado

I have a 09 Silverado, 1500, Z71, Xcab, 4 X 4, with the 5.3. It only has 2,xxx miles on it. So far I'm not impressed with the gas mileage = around 16, (yea it's a truck) hopefully it will improve. Other than that it's a great truck (see my photos, on this site). -- Since I work, for a rental car company, I drive many, different, vehicles, including several Z71, 4 X4, Crew Cab, Colorados. I haven't looked, but I believe they all are 5 cylinders. The gas mileage seems similar to my Silverado, and the ride seems somewhat stiffer. Perhaps it's because it's lighter and bounces, a bit, on the roads, here in N.E. Pa. -- My vote is for the Silverado. -- Good luck, with whatever you choose.

I don't know if they are available for the silverado's, Im sure they are, but some of the people with 2 wheel drive colorados have the locking rearend and they say with the locker they are fine with 2 wheel drive in the snow.

I have a rwd chevy silverado 1500 and I live in MN where get lots of snow. Not sure how much you get it in IN but if you don't get a lot then you'd be fine with the rwd. If your going to be towing and other stuff you might want the 4wd. If you know how to drive and handle your truck then 2wd in the snow is no problem. All depends on your needs I guess.

Default 4wd is a better investment

Overall, I would say that the 4wd would be a better investment because thy will hold their resale value longer, especially if you keep it pristine.

If a guy is shopping for a 2wd and finds a 4wd he might buy it, but if a guy is looking for a 4wd he wont even look at a 2wd.

My Silverado 4wd rides nice and it is handy to have the 4wd available. There are a lot of guys that think their 2wd with a locking rear end will go anywhere a 4x4 will, but I pull out several of them a year.
