Common Chevy & GMC Issues

88-89 hood release. You have to hit it just to the left of the latch on the front of the hood and it will pop right up every time. I know lots of people who have had this problem and it always works.
88-98 Intake manifold gaskets. Always seem to go if you use dex-cool coolent. Not a major problem, but you will be leaking coolent and you will def smell it.

What about the good ole fullsize door panels. Those stupid push pins always break! You remove the door panel once and it's never the same! GM actually drastically improved that design in 1999 and on. Also the 88-94 arm rests on the door. They always crack around the mounting screw. BIG TIME!

Ok today here is what I came across...
2000 Silverado 4.3 liter...A/C blower barely blows any air out of the vents even on high. You can hear the blower blowing hard, but hardly any air comes out. Solution: Cabin filters were severely clogged - replaced and it blows like it is supposed to and smells alot better too!
Same truck...gas pedal sticks off ide - excessive pressure needed to be applied to the pedal to get the truck to take off. Solution: Another carboned up throttle body. Removed throttle body and cleaned thoroughly with throttle body cleaner. I recommend removing the throttle body completely on the 6 Cylinder Silverado's because it is mounted vertically and if not removed all the cleaner goes right into the motor and will probably set a catalytic efficiency code. They are easier to remove on the 4.3's anyway b/c the coolant isn't routed through it like the V-8's.

I have an 03 Silverado SS and the two things that I have noticed is a constant humm (I think it comes from the front half of the AWD trans) and a lot of wind noise from the back passanger window. I heard this is a common problem with these trucks. (It is not a full roll up window, it is a suicide half door and the window hinges out with the opening in the back). Even with these two annoyances I LOVE MY TRUCK!

plus one for the tailgate being hard to open. myself and I alone are the only people able to open it...
1995-1998 auto trans.. my dads 1995 went through 4 before the motor blew at 511,000 miles.. my 97's was rebuilt around 115,000...
plus one on the visor elastic stretching and becoming a nuesance(sp?)

'99+ NBS:
slip yoke clunk.
Transfer Case encoder motor/sensor taking a dump.
hey joevonb, I've got a new set of upper control arm bushings that have an offset hole in them that can be rotated to acheive proper camber angles. If you're interested just private message me and we can work something out, I'll sell cheap (also have a brand new in box set of UCA's with ball joints and bushings too if you need as well).
