Is it normal to smell coolant aound my truck. I don't notice any leaks, but I can definately smell coolant.

 

Check the water pump. You may be leaking enough out of the weep holes to smell but it evaporates before you get to see it.

 

Probably a good call cracker, mine was leakig for a while before I figured it out, and I could smell it all the time. The pump finally failed.

 

water pump/heater core is about all we see....do ya smell it inside?

no, i only semll it outside. never inside, but as soon as I step outside I smell it. I used to have a 98 K2500 with the 5.7L, and had to replace the intake gasket. Turned out that was common, and I just hope I don't have to get into that again. I can handle a water pump, but I don't know about a heater core.

 

the intake is waterless...its about gotta be the pump...
