Default cracked frame

I have an 85 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton with some cracks in the frame. I noticed them because I was having trouble turning and when I inspected the steering box I notice that it had torn part of the frame away with it. There are also two small cracks on the top of the frame just behind the engine. Can anyone help me with advice on how to fix these cracks? I was told that just welding the cracks will not resolve the problem and they will only crack again.

you could try welding the cracks then grinding them down and welding a plat over the welded crack to strengthen it. And as far as the steering box side of things, I would do the same but pre drill it for the mounting holes, then bolt the box back on to the nwe plate

yes you can weld everything up nicely, But you need to check to see if the frame is straight. If there are cracks then something is bent. That truck has had something major damage to it to rip the steering box up. I would just get a new truck.
