Default door lock issues

I have a 93 Chevy Silverado K1500 4X4. The passenger side door has lock issues…first of all whether the door is locked or not, the door can not be opened from the inside. I have to role the window down and use the outside door handle. The power lock will lock the door but not all the way. When locked, the door won’t open but to get in you have to use the key to first “completely” lock and then unlock the door. If I forget and lock the doors before letting the passenger role the window down to get out, I have to go around and use the key to let them out. If the passenger forgets about the problem and tries to use the inside door handle, even with out using the lock switch, I have to go around and let them out with the key. It can not be unlocked with the power switch or manually from inside on the door panel, only by using the key and first completely locking and then unlocking. I figure the door lock actuator will have to be replaced, BUT how would that effect manually operating the lock from the inside and how would it make the door lock when I try to use the inside door handle?

I have no clue what is wrong with your truck but I would suggest, if you have not already, taking the door panel off and see if something is not connected.

Is the key hard to turn?

The key turns smooth but with some resistance, not unlike the drivers side. I tried WD-40 on all parts but it’s the same. I took the panel off and couldn’t find anything disconnected but it was hard to see and I didn’t really know what I was looking at and I didn’t drill out the rivets to remove the door handle housing to get a better look. The little rod that connect the inside door handle is still connected and as best I can tell from the pictures in my LMC catalog, isn't bent. I’m using a Haynes manual but it’s not much help. I guess I’ll have to take it apart again and drill out those rivets so I can really study it and see what the problem is. Any suggestions are welcome.

Before you do any drilling reach in and lock and unlock it by hand to see if you can feel the problem or were its getting hung up.

It was the door latch inside the door that’s held in with three torx screws. One of the rivets that hold the part together was broken which allowed it to spread apart and caused some of the parts that were supposed to contact when the door handle was pulled to “miss” and not lift the latch like it’s supposed to. I had to remove the door panel, drill the six pop rivets out that hold the inside door handle onto the inner panel so I could get to the linkage to disconnect it, then take the screws out of the panel and take the widow linkage out of its track on the bottom of the widow. All of that just to get the thing out then reverse the whole process and replace the drilled out rivets with machine screws. The part is a $50 peace from LMC but mine was $7 from the junk yard and is a major pain to replace. hope this helps someone else that might have this problem.

That's why i only use LMC for ideas..... most of the stuff in there i could get at the local u-pull-it yard for 3x less than what they want.... many times i have gotten lucky and found next to new things.

saw this post and I think it has helped me with the problem with my Door Lock Actuator, and LMC has helped me with these also...
