Default engine light

Hello everyone..great sight....I have a 2004 chev silverado 2500 HD, I have had it for 6 months..the check engine light came on in the first month and it was the knock sensor..I replaced both of them even though only one was at fault...after a month the light is back on..I used my code reader and it said knock sensor..I thought that mabe that this was being caused by cheap gas so I started using premium gas and the light went off..after another month it is back on reading knock sensor..I am wondering if there is something else I can try to fix this other than replacing the sensors again...Mick

Are you hearing any detonation/pinging ? Especially up steep inclines.
What code number are you getting on knock sensor?

Yeah Mick, I changed the same sensors out in my 03 1500HD. The engine service light came back on a short time after my replacement too .... I'm so frustrated from trying to correct this problem without success after spending a lot of money for nothing I've just put a small piece black electrical tape over the icon light. I don't feel so bad if I don't see it on glowing at me. Come back and post your results if you continue to troubleshoot the Engine Service Light situation.
Best of Luck, Skoot61

Not hearing any pinging the truck seems fine..the code reads as follows..

PO332
knock sensor 2
circuit low
input (bank2)

I have already replaced this sensor ..I am wondering if there is something else going on to cause this

After filling it with premium gas and using all but 1/4 of a tank the egine light went off..Although when I put my scanner on it still reads the following..PO332 KNOCK SENSR 2..but the irritating light is gone for now..

Did you also replace the knock sensor wire harness? It is recommended while doing this. I also did this on my truck and have not had a problem since.

Although it is unlikely, it is possible that the new sensor is faulty. Anytime something is mass produced (auto parts) you can expect a bad egg here and there. Turn the key over once like you would do to turn on the radio, and stomp on the gas pedal 3 times very quickly. See if that makes the dummy light go away.
