Exhaust System HELP!

Exhaust System HELP!
My grandparents were kind enough to offer me an exhaust setup of my choice for my birthday. I chose to get the Super 44 muffler system from flowmaster. But here is the problem: I know a lot less about exhaust systems then I probably should.
Here is my question(s). I know that I need to order the muffler, and the tips. But what else do I need? I am guessing pipes to get from the muffler to the tips. But how do I know what length the pipes need to be? How to I know how wide the pipes need to be?
I could basically use every piece of advice I can get because I am ordering the system this week and want to get the right thing.
Any help is at least some help!

Just get get a catback set up. They all come with tips of your choice too. Everything bolts right up with just basic tools. So a trip to the muffler shop is not needed, but I would anyways to seal everything. Add 4 inch tips for a deeper sound.

I just got my exhaust done. Find a shop that has pipes and pipe benders. They'll custom make you the pipes. I went with the Flowmaster Super 40 series single in (3") dual out (2.5") and kept the tailpipes at the factory 2.5". Bought the 2.5" in 3" out tips from the Flowmaster website. Called around and finally landed on a Midas shop that bends pipes, gave them the muffler and tips, they remade the old tailpipe and made a second. Installation cost $450, muffler $90 and $50 a tip x 2 for me so $100. So $650, prob a little less than an average catback system unless ebay offers cheaper. You can also find tailpipes online if you look around a bit. Catback might be the way to go since the entire system is synced perfectly for sound and performance, but last I checked on Flowmaster.com a catback system was pretty expensive and I was trying not to spend too much. If your grandparents will pay for it, go for it!

Unless the Muffler shops can give mandrel bends, a catback set up ordered is gonna be the best bet. American Thunder set up by Flowmaster runs around $330. For $650 I hope they had the machine for mandrel bends. Over here it costs about $250 for the same thing(Im only guessing).

Hmm good price. Yeah they had the machine for mandrel bends which was my big thing. I was calling all over trying to find a shop that could make mandrel bends. He said it cost $150 for the 2 new pipes, one running where the factory ran and the other behind the spare tire out the other side, but the installation got me. $150 an hour and took them 2 hours. So even if the $90 muffler, $100 for tips and $150 for new pipes only runs $340, close so the American thunder catback system, installation was another story. This however was for a dual out system which is worth it over single out because you got the sound coming from BOTH ends!

Ruffneck were you running true duals or single in dual out? And what cam r u running? Just curious. If I read all the post right I think I would have just ordered a system off the internet and installed myself. Much cheaper that way. Or I would have taken it to a shop and had them instal it. And Midas with a mendral pipe bending machine? I have never seen a Midas shop with that type of investment. oh well I think you might have been had, but my opinion.
