Default fuel milage

Hey guys, can anyone tell me the aproximate difference in fuel consumption between the 1500 with the 5.3 compared to the 2500 with the 6.0l gas engines? I tow a fair amount with my 5.3 1500, however I have been looking into the 2500 6.0l and was hoping someone could give me some reviews on the larger engine. Eg: Towing capacities, fuel consumption, do you recomend going bigger? ect. Basically, is there much difference between trucks?

Thanx for any help

Default RE: fuel milage

My 2003 1500HD with the 6.0 averaged 10.5 to 12 MPG in town with about 13.5 MPG highway. I had a cold air intake, magnaflow exhaust, custom PCM(computer) tune and electric fans. My new 2006 1500 with the 5.3 is averaging 15.5 MPG but I only have 600 miles on the truck so that number will improve. The 6.0 will have a little more grunt as well as being backed by the stronger 4L80e transmission. If you choose the 5.3, make sure it has a towing package- 3.73 rear gears and transmission cooler.
